Universal borrowing in Aalto University Libraries

Library card  (Arsca card)

Arsca card is required for loans and is obtained at the circulation desk of the University of Art and Design Library: show your passport, official identification card or Kela Fotocard and complete the Customer Information Form.

Arsca card is for personal use. The card holder is responsible for all material borrowed. Lost cards and changes of name or address should be reported immediately to the library.

The library card costs 2 EUR for users other than students and staff of the schools represented.
Materials from the library may be renewed or reserved by presenting the Arsca card.

Reservations

You can reserve any material that is on loan by making a request in the ARSCA catalogue or by contacting the library. You will be notified by mail when the item is available.

Collection of books from library's stockroom

Orders from the stockroom should be made before 4 pm. Books ordered after 4 pm may be collected the following day.

Loan periods

Books 4 weeks
TAVI course books 2 weeks
Periodicals 2 weeks (the issues of the current year may not be checked out)  
Slides 2 weeks  
Multimedia 2 weeks
Videotapes 2 weeks

Scores and Recordings / Pop & Jazz
(Only students, teachers and staff of Pop & Jazz Conservatory and Helsinki Metropolia's students of Pop & Jazz may borrow records and scores.)
The loan period is 2 weeks.

Renewals

Renewing loans in the Arsca Collection -> Patron information

The items may be renewed (if not reserved) as follows:
books up to 5 times, other material 2 times.

Overdue fines and suspension of borrowing privileges

 

You will be sent one reminder for overdue items.
Avoid extra costs by returning or renewing items by the due date!
Borrowing privileges are suspended if an item is more than 40 days overdue, or if unpaid overdue fines are 10 euros or over.

Universal borrowing in Aalto University Libraries

Help
Aalto University students and staff are able to order books from other Aalto University Libraries free of charge. Valid Aalto University Library card is needed to place orders. Orders can be placed via Arsca, Helcat or Teemu catalogue. Pick up library can be any Aalto University Library, except in Otaniemi where books can only be picked up at the main library. Universal borrowing orders may be placed for following collections:

Arabia Campus Library: Avokokoelma (Open collection)
Otaniemi Campus Library: Pääkirjasto, B-kirjat (Main library, B-books)
Töölö Campus Library: Yleiskokoelma - Main collection
Course books can not be ordered.Only books with the status of Not Charged can be ordered.

An item available notice will be sent by e-mail when the book is ready for pick up. Universal borrowing loans can be renewed via Arsca, Helcat or Teemu catalogue. Books can be returned to any Aalto University library.
